Travel Safely With Food During the Holidays

It is that time of the year again: the holiday season. The holidays are a great time to meet, catch-up and spend time with family and friends. As you get ready to drive around to get-togethers and community events, sharing food and rejoicing at the sight of friendly faces, we have some safety tips for travelling with food in your vehicle:

  • Keep your temperature-sensitive food items separate by keeping the frozen items in one bag and hot items in another. This will prevent premature thawing and keep your food fresh, especially on longer excursions.
  • Place a large towel underneath the bag holding the food. This will allow the towel to absorb liquid and sequester solids if something starts leaking.
  • This goes without saying, but make sure all the Tupperware tops are tightly shut, as even one open container can cause significant damage to your vehicle’s interior—even with a towel lining the car-floor

These tips should keep your vehicle clean and safe, but if there is something you are concerned about, feel free to visit Grieco Honda right here in Johnston, RI. We wish you a safe and happy holiday season.
